That's my horse Spirit on the left and the new boarder Rosie on the right. They bonded when they were being neglected by me during the power outages. They are loose in the arena now because I haven't been able to walk the whole fence line to make sure it is ok.
Rosie's people were out yesterday. They cleaned her stall. I wasn't paying attention when they started. The contractors were using the wheelbarrow to carry assorted junk stall to stall while working. Rosie's people did not empty the wheelbarrow first. So they dumped a lot of old bolts, nails, and popcans into the compost pile. I found it after they were gone and had to pick through it all to get what I could out. What were they thinking? Yes, it was trash but you don't throw that outside. They even put a plastic ring thingy from a six pack of pop outside. Isn't that the first rule of enviromentalism? Don't throw those out without cutting them because birds get stuck and die. I thought everybody was taught that one in grade school.
They are scared to death of Rosie. I put Spirit out and she started pacing in her stall and head tossing. They slammed the door of her stall and stood there shocked. I said that she just wanted to go out with Spirit. They said that there was no way they were going into her stall with her being crazy like that. I opened her stall door. She came over and waited patiently while I put her halter on. Then we walked calmly to the arena. She's not crazy. She's just being a horse. A good horse even. I don't know how to get this through to them.

Spirit is so beautiful.... J loves the horsy parts of your blog (and I love reading all of it)
