At 7:00 pm we got a call from our insider at the power company telling me to get my lip balm out. If you haven't read the last post that's the guy that my husband promised me to for certain sexual favors if he got our power on today. We were out of power for 66 hours total.
We were on our way home to feed the horses so all of our stuff and the bird are still at the office. We can't bring ourselves to drive back there again tonight now that there is power here. The bird has lots of food so he's fine. We can make do without our stuff for tonight.
The inside-outside cats are in the bedroom now and are very grateful. I kept them outside because I figured they'd have a better chance of staying warm in the hay than in here. They did not appreciate my logic. I got the impression over the last few days that they considered this to be all my fault but now they are willing to forgive.
We're getting the house warmed back up now. The pipes are all fine. Luckily we haven't finished the upstairs yet so there were no pipes above ground. We are also steam-cleaning the carpet because the dog was still slightly sick and had bloody diarrhea in the MIL's sleeping area. (Would it be inappropriate to say, "That's my girl!"?) I'm waiting until the rooms warm up to clean the dog. She's not letting me out of her sight. She's finally starting to eat again. I think she was feeling better but was pretty stressed by all the moving around.
